History

The West Meadowlark Community League (WMCL) was incorporated in 1968 and the community hall was built in 1969.

WMCL has a fully accessible playground footprint (no sand), basketball standards, shaded picnic structure, spray park and maintains a hockey rink and social skating rink in the winter.

We started a community garden in 2017 and celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2018.

Schools

The community has 2 elementary schools (Annunciation Catholic School and Aleda Patterson (opened Fall 2021 as a K-3), and 2 high schools (St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School and Jasper Place Composite High School).

Residents of West Meadowlark Park can access West Edmonton Mall and the Misericordia Hospital is within our boundaries.

West Meadowlark Park is also home to a wonderful array of recreation and sports facilities. City run facilities in our neighbourhood include the Johnny Bright Sports Park, the Jasper Place Leisure Centre (now open!), the St. Francis Xavier Sports Centre and the Bill Hunter Arena.
